Holiday Greetings from the Great OCM!
In
terms of warm clothing; no I have not gone shopping yet, mainly because
the stores are out of my area, but we got special permission to go to a
few places today and so a member will be taking us shopping. One of the
stops is Costco! This last week has been very cold and that has
motivated me to go shopping for the cold gear today. We had a storm blow
through this weekend and it stayed in the 20's all day one day and
dipped down to the teens at night. We also got a light dusting of snow.
The worst part was since it is the end of the month we took a bike day
(since we are almost out of miles) on one of those cold snowy days and I
was pretty cold, so after today I should be a little more prepared.
Thanksgiving sounds like it will be a little different
this year. Lots of stuff happening with Grandpa. I will keep you and
Grandpa in my prayers. I love it when God places stepping stones in our
path to give us guidance, just like President Monson's talk. It is like I
said last week it is the little miracles that keep us going.
As of right now we do not have a member feeding us for
Thanksgiving so it may just be a normal day for us with a rotisserie
chicken or something. Right now my companions and I are anxious to get
transfer calls which will let us know where we will be staying during
the holidays. I love this area and would not mind staying, but we shall
see. Transfers will be tomorrow due to Thanksgiving on the usual
Thursday.
Some great miracles this last week. We finally put a
man on date who has been investigating the church off and on for years,
but just recently is making progress to stop smoking. The ward mission
leader got on my nerves yesterday when he approached us at church and
told us that he had talked to this man who was on date for the 30th
(this Saturday) and pushed his baptism back another week just for the
sake of convenience, and so that the ward would look good when
President Nilsen speaks on the 7th in sacrament meeting (will have a
confirmation). All this was done without our approval and the way I see
it is now there is another 7 days of intense temptation (especially since
he just quit smoking). The members may not see it but it is outright
ridiculous how much trials come to those who are on date to be baptized,
so anyways, the first weekend in December we have a baptism planned.
You guys are awesome. I love hearing how well you are
doing spiritually as a family. As a missionary that seems to be all you
care about is the spirituality of others, and when people fall, when
they loose their way, or loose their grip on the iron rod it can be
devastating to a missionary because you know what they are missing out
on and you love them. Thanks for being a great support to me. I love You
and have a great THANKSGIVING!!!
