Greetings from the Great OCM!
My
time is very very limited because today the zone went to the Columbus Zoo! The number 1 zoo in the nation. It was fun but took lots of time.
Biggest news is of course transfers which came as a
big shock. I have been called to serve as a zone leader. I don't know
why the Lord has called me to this, but whom the Lord calls, the Lord
qualifies so I will see new challenges and triumphs in the coming
transfer. I will be getting a new companion in a different area.
This last week has been chalk full of miracles,
probably more than I have ever seen before in one week. I will try and
summarize a few.
We got in contact with a media
referral we have been trying to contact for a few months now. We gave
up on him for a time and then stopped back by. We met him as he was
coming out the door (no coincidence) and he told us he has read the Book
of Mormon twice, and listens to it every night on tape. We then invited
him to come to one of the member's home for a lesson and dinner. We
taught a boss lesson and he is now being taught.
We were trying to contact another media referral (we
get texts on our phone from Mormon.org) and we went by numerous times. It is in a locked apartment complex with 4 apartments. Since we could
not get into the complex we began knocking on the windows. Each time we
went by and knocked on a window there would be this angry lady who would
come outside of the complex (I don't know how she knew we were there
since it was not her window we were knocking on) and she would angrily
tell us to leave; but since this media referral was seemingly fairly
solid we went back numerous times until this last week we finally had
met everyone in the complex and the person we were looking for does not
live there. As we were leaving the usual angry lady opened the door but
this time she asked if we would shovel her walk. We did. She then came
out again and asked us who we are. We told her and she then brought out a
picture of her sister in front of the Christus in Temple Square. We
taught her the first lesson and the spirit was incredibly strong. She
accepted everything and we warned her of the many misconceptions that
would arise as she investigated. She was so solid and was even in tears
during the lesson because that same sister in the picture has recently
passed away.
Now the flip side to this miracle is just yesterday she called and
told us she is no longer interested because the chapter she read in the
Book of Mormon (3 nephi11) contradicts her beliefs. I really don't
understand how she can deny the spirit that was shouting in her face as
we taught her but she did. No matter what though, it was one of the most
powerful first lessons ever and a miracle, especially since she once
rejected us and then we ended up teaching her.
Another miracle, Sunday before church, went to contact a potential, and ended up finding a family of 4 (all before church).
Well
I am literally out of time and this is the only email I could write
today so just know that I love you very much and you will hear from me
very soon. I will have a lot to fill you in about after transfers.
Love,
