Greetings,
Some crazy things
have happened in the last week with transfers. Elder Prettyman leaves in
less than 3 weeks (Aug. 16th) and he will be going home to Price Utah
after serving his 2 years. He is leaving mid-transfer so he can make it
back for school. But like I said some crazy stuff is happening, especially
concerning my new companion. Elder Baird has left our trio to train in
another area and the night before transfers I received a phone call
asking me to be a trainer. After 6 weeks in the mission field I am now a
trainer and am training Elder Jensen (who is a visa waiter going to
Brazil). Of course, for the next few weeks Elder Prettyman is here to
help me with this calling but then I will be on my own with Elder
Jensen.
I have struggled in the last week with the calling. I
do not know why in the world the Lord would call me, after only 6 weeks,
to be a trainer in the great Ohio. During most of the lessons Elder
Prettyman says almost everything and I say very little. So why then have
I been called? However, I do know that President Neilson does receive
inspiration for the missionaries here and I do know that this calling is
from God, therefore I know that this is something that God believes I
can do for "I know that the Lord giveth no commandments unto the
children of men, save he shall prepare a way for them that they may
accomplish the thing which he commandeth them." The Lord has called me
in my weakness so that I may become strong. I hope and pray I can be the
missionary he has called me to be. I also ask you to keep me in your
prayers specifically that I can train Elder Jensen well, and fulfill my
calling.
So last night we met with a girl named Callie at the
Wilkinson's and she is now on date to be baptized. The Wilkinson's have
done an excellent job at teaching her so she is already ready. Right now
we have 2 people on date: Keilah and Callie. Hopefully, we will put
Angela's other daughter, Jalea, on date after she goes to girls camp
this week.
Today, or this morning, We went to the Air Force Museum
which is the Largest Museum in the world and all it is is hangar after
hangar of airplanes, tons of airplanes, essentially every airplane ever
created. It was amazing. I am sure all of you, especially Cameron will
enjoy the pictures.
I love you all and hope you have a terrific week.
Love Elder Beutler
And...here is another e-mail sent to us from Sister Wilkinson:
Hi Shelly.
We were stationed with the Air Force for two tours to
Germany (the clock). The Elders were having fun looking at our knick
knacks. We have really seen a change in your Elder in his short time
here. He was a little shy at first, but has totally come into his own.
It was awesome watching him Baptize two people at the family of 5's
baptism. That was certainly a unique and beautiful event.
Last night, they taught a co-worker of my
daughter's. It was her first lesson and she set a baptism date (August
10). He arrived at the right time!! Things had been kind of slow here
and since all the new changes have happened with Missionaries, it seems
the members have stepped up with sharing the Gospel.
My Elder started in the Arizona Tempe Mission (March
2013), but with mission changes, is now in the Arizona Gilbert
Mission--he has been in Gilbert his time there so he will be in Gilbert
for his 2 years. There are 200,000 people there and 15 Stakes...it
sounds like a mini Utah! He has struggled with biking in the heat, but
is starting to get used to it. He really loved working with the Elders
here prior to going.
We will definitely take care of Elder Beutler for his birthday!!
Let me know if he ever needs anything or you need to get him a message.
