Greetings,
There is so much
stuff happening right now that I don't know where to start. It is so hard
to remember what happened over the last week because as a missionary
you never look back, but forward to what is happening within the next
hour or the next day. Elder Jensen and I have been working as hard as we
can and this last week has almost all been on bikes since we were out
of miles for our car. However now that it is the beginning of September
we have our miles back. Thank goodness too because it is a killer to
bike all over our area. Since it is not normally a car area it is large
so there is a lot of ground to cover on bikes, however when we are on
bikes we are able to talk to a lot more people, so the Lord is able to
put people in our path who are ready to hear about the gospel.
Everyone seems to smoke here. I never realized how few
people do in Utah but here it is a concern for nearly every one of our
investigators. We have lots of people we are teaching right now but not
as many are progressing as I would like. Right now we are also debating
what to do with our progressing investigator Aziza, since she is 29 she
is eligible for the single adult ward which would mean she would be
handed over to another set of missionaries. However, she has two kids so
the family ward may be better. We are going to talk to her tomorrow
about it but I hate it when we give our investigators away. I just need
to remember that it is one eternal round, but you get connected to
people and don't want to let them go! What is worse is when they drop
you. You think that the person you are teaching is doing so well and you
have such high hopes for them but suddenly, they drop you. We had an
investigator drop us yesterday and it was sooooo hard. I love the people
here! Being on a mission is like an emotional roller coaster not because I
miss home or anything, but because you feel good when your
investigators are doing good, when they are not it wears you down
because you want what is best for them. These feelings are overall
productive in the end because it motivates you to help the people come
closer to Christ and receive his gospel.
Transfers are tomorrow and we should be receiving
transfer calls any minute that let us know if we stay or go. You never
know next time I email I may be in another area in the great Ohio, but
most likely I will be staying here which is what I want, because there
is so much work to do. I am hoping I keep my awesome companion, Elder
Jensen! We have an awesome dedication to this work and together we are
able to work miracles!
Time is short today, in fact, Elder Jensen and I are
ending our p-day early in order to see a couple of people so I will wrap
things up. Next week the president is throwing a Luau for the mission
on p-day, and Thursday is interviews with President and a Temple Trip!!!
I can't wait to make it to the temple again! That is something that I
miss the most!
I love you all and hope you have a great week. HAPPY BIRTHDAY HENRY CLAY!!! You should have something coming in the mail soon!
Love, Elder Beutler
