Greetings from the Great OCM.
Elder Jensen
and I are continuing to work as hard as we can. We have lots of work to
do. Our biggest problem right now is we are finding lots of new
investigators but very few of them become solid people to teach. They
drop off really quick. So this last Sunday we had a special fast to find
at least one solid new investigator this upcoming week and also to help
our current investigator who is on date to be baptized. His name is
Quinn June. He is a father of a part member family and is really willing
to learn. He is on date for October 5th which is a long time away,
mainly because there are a few bugs we need to work out. But he is an
awesome investigator.
We also ran into a girl name Kitty while tracting a
couple of weeks ago who is going through some hard times right now and
wants to find a religion. We knocked on her door at just the right time.
We have a few investigators right now who have said that they will be
baptized once they come to know the Book of Mormon is true, the key is
to follow up and help them keep their commitments.
Another person we are teaching is Aziza who is Muslim.
She wants to be a part of our church but needs to gain a faith in Jesus
Christ first which is contrary to her culture. The hard part is getting a
hold of her between school and everything.
Cool story, I was walking down the hall at church when
the 1st counselor in the bishopric stops me and says "he fakey-trey"
which was a nick-name some of my slab buddies used to call me. The story
is we ate at their home about a week ago and their daughter who was
eating with us is now in school in Provo (UVU). She stopped into Slab
and told them she met a former employee and they told her that they
called me fakey trey. Well word got back to me. Every once in a while I
get the urge to eat a slab, but sadly, there is nothing like that here.
I don't know if I mentioned it but I ate fried frog
legs a few weeks ago. Some crazy restaurants here had some so we stopped
in just for the experience. It was . . .OK. Kind of like fishy chicken.
Here in Xenia we are allotted 1200 miles a month and
although it sounds like a lot we are out for the month. So for this last
week Xenia has become a temporary bike area, which is really hard since
it is such a large area. We are forced to either bike or get members to
take us to lessons, which is actually really something we need to work
on. but yes, so right now I am not gaining any weight no matter how much
I am fed.
Thanks so much for the birthday care-package. I also
got a package from Sara and Jess! Man I have so much candy right now!
Thanks and I love you all. Hope you have a great week.
Love Elder Beutler
