Big Hello, from the Great OCM!,
Transfers came and I am now in my new area which is
called Big Walnut Creek, which is in the city of Columbus. In fact, my
area includes part of downtown on the east side of the city. I am in
another trio with Elder Hansen (who has been out for 7 months), and
Elder Hatch (6 weeks). So far I am loving my new area! There are some
great people here to teach! It is a lot different from Xenia because it
is in the big city, while Xenia was more country/small town. Also some
good news, we have a car. We just got it a couple days after transfers
when the mission office realized they had an extra one. It is a brand
new Chevy Cruze, by brand new I mean there were 72 miles on the odometer
when we drove it to our area. So right now I am living the high life. My
apartment is also much bigger and nicer than the one in Xenia with the
kitchen and living downstairs, and two bedrooms/bath upstairs. The only
problem is I don't have a desk yet, so
hopefully soon I will have a place to put all my stuff instead of
living out of my suitcases.
There are some really awesome progressing investigators
in this area right now who are near baptism. There are a few problems we
have to work with though such as the usual smoking, and getting a
couple married which is something I haven't dealt with before. There is a
Costco in the neighboring area! Just outside of my area! But it is in
our ward boudaries.
This last Sunday was stake conference and the stake was
being reorganized. I was a little disappointed because I did not get to
meet very many of the members at all because the entire stake was
there. There were a couple of general authorities that spoke (70s) but
my favorite was the adult session of conference Saturday night obviously
because it was about . . . Hastening of the work. My mission president
spoke at the adult session and he is such a powerful speaker, bold, and
full of the spirit. Also, after the adult session we missionaries stood
near all the doors and handed out pass along cards and Book of Mormons
to all of the members.
Thats about it for now. We had lots of rain this last
week and it got cold, near 40 in the morning now on some days and in the
60's during the day. It is supposed to be a harsh winter so we shall
see I'm not too worried because we have a car now anyways.
One cool thing about my area is that we have a
university to cover; "Capitol University," which we do some street
contacting at. In fact, we have found a new investigator who is very solid
and some good potentials as well. It is a lot different from Xenia
because there is no one to street contact there but here in downtown Columbus there are people everywhere to talk to. I do miss my old area
but I am looking forward to the new learning experiences here in
Columbus with two awesome companions!
I love you all and hope you have a stellar week,
Love,
Elder Beutler
