Greetings from the Great OCM!!!
The weather
here is so bipolar. We had about 4 inches of snow on the ground the
beginning of the week and then it started raining and melted all the
snow, and today it is around 20 degrees outside and snowing with an inch or two.
This weekend is supposed to be warm and rainy.
Update for Christmas, this is probably the last e-mail
you will get from me before I will be calling home on Christmas
(p-day will be on Christmas instead of Monday). So as of right now no
member has invited us over, but don't worry someone will; our ward will
take care of us. I imagine that I will be calling between 1pm-4pm. I am
sorry it is not a specific time. I don't think I will have the
opportunity to skype/face time this Christmas. I look forward to hearing
your wonderful voices!
By the way I received the Christmas card from the Hurricane 15th ward. Give a big thanks to all!
Lots
of crazy stuff this week. On Wednesday was district meeting, like usual,
but the assistants to the president decided to show up and sit in on my
district meeting. That was a little stressful. But the meeting went
very well, or so they tell me. In district meeting we started a district
competition. Because we need to improve our finding in the district, we
are keeping track of how many people we talk to on the streets and if
you give out a card, you count it towards your contacts. If we reach our
district goal by Sunday then there will be a reward for the district
and the area with the most contacts gets a grand prize. I have no idea
what that prize will be yet. So that is what is going down with the
district, however with the weather being crazy there are a lot less
people out and about. The assistants also decided to join in the
competition.
On Saturday we had a meal (lunch) appointment with a
part-member family which we have not been able to get-in to see for some time.
We shoveled the slush off their driveway and then sat down with them and
enjoyed an awesome lunch. The wife is not a member but has been to our
church numerous times. She holds a leadership position in her Baptist
church. So it took them a while to cook lunch so we talked to the member
about the Book of Mormon while his wife was cooking. I get very uneasy
when we spend a lot of time in one place so by the time lunch was served
we had already been there for over an hour and since meals are only
supposed to last an hour, plus we intended to teach his wife (the
non-member), I was getting a little annoyed at the waste of time. While
we were wrapping up lunch Elder Hatch took out this photo book of all
these pictures of him, his family and Utah and started going through it
with them. This really frustrated me and it took about a half hour to go
through these photos. Finally, we sat down to teach and the wife ran up
the stairs uninterested. So although unusual, I did get a little
frustrated with my companion. We got in the car and I told him
everything I felt ( I didn't speak angrily or anything but it is of
up most importance to let it all out). He told me that I needed to stay
positive which did not make me feel any better. I love Elder Hatch and
we get along great, we work well together, we work hard, we are united,
we have lots of fun together. I'm not saying I am struggling with my
companion in any way. We just had a disagreement this week. Which
happens in any relationship.
Other than that, I am looking forward to Christmas and although I hope it will be a white Christmas you never know in Ohio.
I love you all very much. I look forward to hearing from all of you.
Much Love,
