Greetings from the Great OCM!!!
Of course, the
wonderful snow storm comes as soon as I leave! Just great! We had a
pathetic storm here this last week, about 3 inches of snow or so on
Saturday which is lame. The problem is it was a wet snow. It was cold
but not as cold as h-town. That is crazy especially for December. The
snow here is different because everything is humid, nothing is ever
dry. Tonight it is supposed to be around 13 here with a high in the
twenties tomorrow. Sadie slid off the road! Those are always fun. Man
all this talk of the snow, and the Rhino! It is making me trunky, change
of subject . . .
So I left my cam cord at home again so hopefully
next week I can include some good pictures until then you will just have
my words alone, after all nothing can beat those awesome snow pictures
you sent me. Looks like fun!
It was a hard week, and by that I mean that we did not
find any new investigators. Some weeks are just dry, you go to work and
work your best but no one will receive you. We have really been focusing
on talking to everyone, literally everyone. It is always a good excuse
to ask people where a street is and from there to explain who you are,
why you are doing missionary work, and what it can mean for them that
Christ's church has been restored. We did make it up though on Saturday
when we had another Baptism! This guy finally stopped smoking and that
was the highlight of my week.
President came to church this Sunday and it was waaaay
stressful. Sunday morning we were running around like crazy trying to
get our investigators to church so they could meet President. Two of
them went out of town for the weekend and another one missed his ride so
all in all, for the first time in probably 3 months we had 0 at church
and it happened to be the day that President showed up. That wasn't very
relaxing. To make matters worse, the member who takes us to church was
late so luckily we showed up just in time for the confirmation but it
was cutting it way too close. President and Sister Nilsen spoke in
Sacrament meeting which was great as usual. In Sunday School they
answered questions and the spirit was sooooo strong, I really wish some
of our investigators would have showed up but we did about everything we
could to get them there. We made breakfast for them, woke them up so
they would be ready, and still nothing. The last hour was with President
and the ward missionaries. This ward has some great plans set but they
just need to get them rolling. Hopefully after talking with President
they will.
I was condemned to heck the other day while we were
street contacting, not that it is an unusual thing but this guy came up
and asked for change which happens a lot. I rarely have any cash,
everything is on card so I told him I didn't have any change (plus
missionaries are not supposed to give out money to prevent that
stereotype). He called me a liar and said that I would stand at the
Judgement Bar and would have to tell God that I lied to him. He then
stomped off. Those are the things that make your journal interesting and
worth reading in the future.
Have a wonderful week enjoying the snow. I will let you
know the details about calling home as soon as we receive further
instruction. I know as much as you do for now. I love you all and will
be talking to you soon!
Love,
Elder Beutler
