Dear Family,
I sent a letter right after
transfers but apparently it is still on its way so here is what happened
. . . . I am still in the same area and still working with Elder Hatch!
I will still be the district leader. The only difference is my area was
split in half and another set of elders was put in, so the district now
covers 5 companionships! Our ward now has 3 sets of missionaries too! I
am way pumped for this transfer and I know that it is going to be the
best one, so far, of my mission!
Yes, I received my Man-bag! Not a purse! It is perfect
thank you so much. I hope you took the money out of my account!!! I will
have to take a few pictures with it and send them to you next week.
It was a very good week. The focus in the zone was to find,
find, find. The zone leader set a goal to find 25 new investigators as a
zone and we far exceeded it finding 35! Finding can be hard now that we
are not tracting in my area. We spend lots of time talking to people on
the streets and doing what we call 2-2-5ing where we knock on all the
houses two houses on either side of a member, and the 5 houses across
the street. Essentially what the focus is, is when you knock on a door
you should always have a name to use such as "Hey do you know your
neighbor so and so?" You can then proceed to smoothly transition into
the Gospel. So anyways the zone had this goal and my district was
struggling to find people. I decided to have a special fast on Sunday to
help the district find. That night investigators were found left and
right and the district had a really great week. The power of fasting!
Released as choir director! Sometimes I wish I could
join the choir here in my ward but it is after church during prime
proselyting time.
We had an awesome chapel tour
this last week with one of our progressing investigators who is near
getting baptized. During the tour we actually got into the empty baptism
font with him and there extended baptism for Feb, 8th, but, then the
concerns started coming out. So now there are a few more road blocks to
his progression to the water. We are working with another part member
couple who we have been working with for all my time in this area and
they are simply waiting to be more financially secure because when they
get married they lose their government benefits. So right now what we
are seeing is a lot of time bombs in this area where everyone is waiting
for a series of miracles that leads to a series of baptisms. We
shouldn't wait for miracles though, we make them happen. The other
progressing investigators we had were transferred to the new missionaries
since the area was split, bummer, but it is all one eternal round with
the Lord.
By-the-way nice job Elise at the Lego League tournament! What a champ!
This
week the focus for my area will be finding again, nothing happens until
we find. One of the hardest things a missionary deals with is
motivating members to do missionary work, but when an investigator is
found through a member the chances of that investigator being baptized
is great. The ideal situation as set up by the Church is an area where
the missionaries don't have to find, they just have to work through the
members. The missionaries spend all of their time teaching. This last
week we had a member out teaching with us and the spirit brought to his
remembrance one of his neighbors that lives next to his old house (he
recently moved). We went there and we are now teaching her, and she has
an immediate connection and fellowship with the church because of this
member. This is how missionary work is meant to go! So that was awesome!
We have some great members in this ward but with the ward being so
small, (70 people at church) we need ALL to be involved in hastening the
work of salvation.
Thank you so much for your individual emails today. I
love you. Tell Uncle Eric that I went to a pizza place that is well know
in the area, but lets face it, nothing can replace Slab. Eat a Slab for
Me! Have a week to remember!
Love,
Elder Trevon Beutler
