Greetings from the Great OCM!!!
SUB-ZERO! It has been a bitter, bitter cold week this week with the lowest being -7 and for two days it never got above 5 degrees! Yesterday morning when temperatures were near zero we threw boiling water in the air and most of it froze before hitting the ground! I am staying warm though. Right before the cold weather hit President sent out a voicemail demanding everyone who does not have a scarf to go and get one. In my area there are no places to get one so we ran to the dollar store and bought a cheap 5$ blanket, cut it in half, and wrapped it around ourselves. I really have never wore a scarf before until just a few days ago but it really makes all the difference. So we were out working in sub-zero temperatures for a couple days but all is well, in fact when I walked into the library it was 18 outside (pretty much short sleeve weather compared to the last few days). Supposedly this is much colder than it has been for the last decade so this is unusually cold. But I am staying warm.
Quinn's story is awesome. I love the analogy and it something that I will use to strengthen my faith. Sometimes the Lord lets us take the controls for a little while. He knows we can do it; He knows what we are capable of. We just have to trust him and fly!
I am also thrilled to hear that Connie got tickets to the temple open house. I love her letters. I really wish that being here on a mission we could work on family history work. In college that was one of my hobbies that I enjoyed most. Especially since it brought me to the temple, and man I sure do miss the temple.
Yes, transfers will be tomorrow and transfer calls will be later today. I will write you a quick note and let you know what my status is once I know. It is always a suspenseful p-day waiting for those calls. I imagine I will be staying here, which I would like to because of the great people we are working with right now.
We had interviews with President last Friday along with a training and I took some valuable things away from it. He told us to rise up and exercise our faith to find people to teach. Nothing happens until we find! So that is a focus right now in the zone. I love President Nilsen and when he speaks you can just feel the power and authority of his calling. He has made miracles happen in this mission and I will be sad to see him go here in the summertime.
We have a few progressing investigators right now who are very, very close to being baptized they just have a few concerns such as, getting married, working on Sunday, and getting off probation. Working through concerns can be very tough sometimes! It all comes back to faith again. Taking that leap over those concerns and being baptized. Lots of people just have a hard time taking that leap of faith. Fan the flames of faith!
I love you and hope you have a wonderful week. Just a side note, get to the temple as much as you can with the names of your ancestors; it is what prepared me most for my mission!
Love, Elder Beutler
