So I hear that the
missionaries will be coming over to show you how they teach people in
Hurricane. Do the missionaries have i-pads there? We are supposed to get
some in January if all goes as planned. It will be a huge transition.
The mission is making some major jumps towards using the media in
teaching. We are asked to watch a Mormon message now in every lesson we
teach and also at all of our dinner appointments with members. It makes
the lessons better because they did a really great job with those
Mormon messages. You should watch them, maybe watch one for every family
home evening. It would be a great mission preparation tool because it
would be super handy to know of all the Mormon Messages before the
mission. My favorite is probably "Mountains to Climb."
It was a very unique week for me, because I was on a
little "zone tour." I essentially went on exchanges with 3
different areas in our zone, and gave training to 2 of the sister areas
while Elder DuBose and Segle stayed in Danville. I was gone from
Wed-Sun. And I had a blast, but it is good to be back in Danville after
spending a few days in the city. The first 2 exchanges were with the
Westerville Elders and it is a Suburb of Columbus. I realized that it
will be hard to leave Danville and come back to the Big city at some
point on my mission. Transfers are coming up again this next week so
P-day is 10 days away. Luckily Mother's day will break up the long week.
This morning we woke up way early (like 5am) so that
we could help teach seminary. The seminary teacher here in Danville had a
migraine. So I am super tired right now, especially since we have to
report numbers on Sunday nights so I did not get to bed until nearly
mid-night. Numbers is one of the downsides of being a Zone Leader.
Quick miracle of the week. I was on my last exchange
with the Mt. Vernon Elders and we set a goal to find 2 new
investigators and get someone to church on Sunday. We worked like crazy
all day and no one wanted to listen to us. There is a small college near
Mt. Vernon and we were street contacting on Campus. Finally at the end
of the day we ran into a couple and the girl had been on a plane, with a
bunch of missionaries leaving the MTC so she had lots of questions. To
make a long story short they came to church the next morning (yesterday)
and enjoyed it. That was probably the highlight of the Zone "Tour."
This week Elder Dubose will be visiting the other half of the zone while
Elder Segle and I stay in Danville.
We have a baptism this week! Finally! It seems like
it has been forever. This guy is super super solid and already has been
assigned to be the gospel principles instructor at the "Amish group." The
church most certainly is true!
Details for Mothers day: We will be skyping at 7pm our time (5pm in Utah),
that
time works best for us. I will need Cari to email me instructions how
to find her skype account or anything that will make it work easily. It
has been a while for me. As far as I know we have about an hour to
skype. If there are any sudden changes I will have a member (sister
Miller) shoot you a text and let you know. You can always text her and
she could let me know if you have any conflicts.
I love you and look forward to "seeing" you all soon.
Love
Elder Beutler
