ha ha I love Bro. Troyer. He is the definition of a kingdom builder. He is one of the awesome Amish Saints.
Cameron starting the Trombone! That is just what our family needs is a little bit of brass (:
So, this email is coming to you later today because
we had an awesome district fun day. We went fishing! There is a member
in Mount Vernon who has a pond full of bluegill and bass. We grabbed
some worms and I spent the entire activity tying knots and rigging the
poles, putting worms on hooks for all the elders and sisters in the
district. And everyone had a blast, because everyone caught fish. I only
had time to throw one cast because everyone needed maintenance on their
poles constantly and hooks to bait, and fish to set free, but I did
catch one. And honestly I did have a blast helping everyone else slay
those fish. So one thing about me that really hasn't changed is I love
fishing.
Well, most importantly we had a baptism this week!
Don was baptized and it was an awesome service. It was the first time I
baptized a full grown man personally. I love Don. He is already looking
forward to go to the temple. He is super receptive to the spirit.
We also have another investigator who should be
making it down to the water soon; hopefully she will overcome smoking
before I leave this awesome area. She also has an 8 year old son who she
wants to be baptized. She came to the baptism and to church her second
time this last week. She believes in the restoration! Honestly the only
reason she wants to be baptized is because of member missionary work.
Brother Weaver just would not let her be forgotten. He constantly
invited her, and eventually she decided to investigate. I give all the
credit to the Weavers. There were some days we would pull up to the
Weavers and she would be there involved in some sort of activity with
the family. This is the way missionary work is meant to be. If it were
so with every family then we could go from appointment to appointment,
relying wholly on the efforts of the members. We would not have to find,
only teach and baptize.
I threw some watermelon seeds into the ground in the
spring, and what do you know we have about 5 watermelons growing now
next to our house, I included the pictures in the drop box
We also got back in contact with a non-member Amish family and
began doing service for them again this week. We will see where it goes.
We spent the entire evening mowing his lawn with push-mechanical mowers
(the kind from way back in the day without a gas engine). However no
pictures because of course . . . Amish.
Well, I love you, and with you all luck with this
fantastic new school year. Remember that everything we do leads to the
temple.
Love,
Elder Beutler
