Greetings from the Great OCM!
What a fantastic week, and great to hear from you via email. I always love reading my emails! It sounds like things are busier than they have ever been before in Hurricane. It has also been a very very busy week here as well. . .
Tuesday I got a call from President Daines, where he informed me that the district leader that was serving in my district would be transferred (mid-cycle-transfer), and he asked me to serve as the district leader. He expressed his appreciation that he was very glad to have a "seasoned" missionary to help him in my district. He also informed me that I needed to prepare district meeting for the next morning.. . fun . . . I was very reluctant when he first asked me because I know my number one responsibility right now is to ensure that Elder Jones receives the training he needs, and that is a job in and of itself to train a new missionary. So there has been a lot on my plate right now but the Lord has been helping me. There has already been lots of district leader responsibilities this last week which have taken lots of my time, but I am glad I have another opportunity to remain fully consecrated in the last portion of my mission. I am striving for that, complete consecration and the Lord is helping me in doing so.
I do think however, that me being a district leader will help Elder Jones in his training needs. For example, this last Friday I went on an exchange and left Elder Jones (with another missionary) in our area to lead it for 24 hours, and he did a great job. He saw miracles, one of which when they found a part member family that is not on our ward roster, and they want to come to church and take the lessons! It was a huge confidence booster in him, and I was so glad, for I had earnestly prayed that he would find a measure of success on his own while I was on exchanges.
Yes, miracles are happening here in Mansfield. We found 2 part member families that are not on the ward roster this week, both of which want us to teach them. And we found another awesome family through tracting that accepted a soft invitation to be baptized on the first lesson. We were able to teach the full restoration and the spirit was nearly tangible in the air.
Today we had a zone activity where we took a picture where we all lined up from youngest to oldest (how long we have been on our missions). I was at the very end of the line (oldest). Man, time is flying by way too fast. I love this mission, more than I can ever express in words. It has done so much for me and my life. How can I possibly leave it!
Keep on Pluggin, it is a motto I now go by. may we all keep on pluggin, as grandpa used to say, till we see each other again in the not so distant future.
Love Elder Beutler!
