So yes, the holiday cancelled emailing mission-wide, so sorry for the delay...
It
is amazing how the Lord works, and how in most cases we do not connect
the dots until it is all over. This is the way it works with most trials
people go through. You never realize the significance of certain events
until they are over and gone. Well, an example of this would be this
last week when we met an old lady who needed help fixing up her trailer
(she lives in a mobile home). My thoughts turned to one of our old
progressing investigators who had told us to leave and never come back. I
knew that he knew how to work on trailers. So, we did it. We went back
to contact him and petition him for his help. When he saw us he
expressed his apology for telling us to leave, saying that he had been
drinking that evening after he had been trying to quit, and he
overreacted. To make a long story short we are back in contact with this
man who was once on date to be baptized (and will be again).
It is amazing how it was all connected. We met an
old lady who needed help with her trailer, that led to us getting back
in contact with this former investigator who works on trailers.
When we went back to do service for this old lady it comes to find
out that she is just a big welfare case honestly. Now that we helped her
once she wants our help with lots of other projects (that would take
too much time). And she is not really interested in the doctrine of the
Gospel. But that is OK because I feel that the reason we met her was so
that we would get back in contact with this man. The Lord works in
mysterious ways. I often wonder what it would be like to be able to see
what the Lord is doing for me all the time.
The moral of the story is, no matter what is
happening right now, good or bad, the Lord is in it. And if we just make
the right decisions, in the end it will all work out for the better.
We also put a lady on date to be baptized for June 21st. Her,
her son, and her boyfriend have been coming to church for the last 3
weeks and they love it. She is super solid . . . the only problem is we
found out the other day that they are not married, so there is a bit of a
road block. But with a bit of faith we will make it happen!
President Nilsen showed up at church this Sunday,
which is not shocking because he comes and sees the Amish families a
lot. Sometimes we will go to a dinner appointment with one of the Amish
Saints and Pres. will be there. He keeps a close eye on this area. But
it ended up being perfect because there were so kind to the
investigators we had at church that it made it a very positive
experience.
I guess Summer vacation is finally here for you
guys. Enjoy it! Spend it together! Before we all go our "Separate Ways"
(journey reference). I love you!
Love,
Elder Beutler
